South Africa will host West Indies in the third Women's ODI of the four-match series, at the Wanderers, Johannesburg. The series is interestingly poised. The first match was abandoned due to rain, while the second ended in a tie, that West Indies won in the Super Over. South Africa have now been part of each of the last five tied Women's ODIs.
Sune Luus’ side will be confident for a better show despite missing stars like Dane van Niekerk and Lizelle Lee. Tazmin Brits has had a decent start to her career, and did well at the top as Laura Wolvaardt’s partner. Luus was the top-scorer for them in the last ODI, a low-scoring affair. Along with Mignon du Preez and Chloe Tryon, she will have to play a vital role later in the innings.
Ayabonga Khaka picked up five wickets in the second ODI. She, along with Shabnim Ismail and Masabata Klaas, will lead the bowling pack, with Luus providing spin support.
West Indies had reduced South Africa to 87/5 in the first ODI after Deandra Dottin scored a sublime unbeaten 150. In the second ODI, too, they were 137/6, needing just 24 runs for victory before being bowled out in a dramatic collapse.
Dottin, who top-scored for them in the second ODI as well, will be their key batter, along with Stafanie Taylor, Kycia Knight and Hayley Matthews. Chedean Nation and Chinelle Henry, who put on a key partnership, will also be in focus.
Their bowling unit has impressed. In the last match, all five picked up two wickets each. The all-rounders, Matthews and Henry, have provided balance to the team, while off-spinner Karishma Ramharack has also contributed regularly.
