Cricket South Africa (CSA) named a full-strength 15-man squad for the two-match One-Day International (ODI) series against the Netherlands, which begins later this week. After being rested for the recent ODI series against the West Indies, fast-bowling duo Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada return to the 50-over setup.
"Given the importance of these games in terms of qualifying for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, we have named our strongest possible squad for these games. We have a job to do, and I am confident that we can complete it with this group of players "White-ball head coach Rob Walter issued an official statement.
The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League matches will be played at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on March 31, followed by the second ODI at Wanderers Stadium on April 2 as part of the annual Pink Day.
The series is critical for South Africa to qualify directly for the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India in October-November. With 78 points, they are ninth in the standings, and winning both games against the Netherlands will increase their chances of direct qualification for the quadrennial event.
"Cricket South Africa wishes Rob and his team the best of luck in their upcoming series against the Netherlands. The second game of the series will be extra special because it coincides with Pink Day. This is a significant day on the CSA calendar because it allows us to raise awareness and funds for a worthwhile cause. Everyone is looking forward to the game "Enoch Nkwe, Director of Cricket, added his voice.
