Sri Lanka v West Indies, 2nd Test Day 4 Preview: First session crucial for both sides Image

Sri Lanka reached 46/2 at Day 3 stumps after bowling out West Indies for 253 in the second innings of the second Test match in Galle. They lost both Dimuth Karunaratne and Oshada Fernando via run outs, which helped West Indies stay slightly ahead of the game at this point.

Sri Lanka are just three runs behind, but there will be no Karunaratne to set a decent target. The onus will be on Pathum Nissanka, Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva to take them past 250. Debutant Charith Asalanka fell cheaply in the first innings, and will be looking to make an impact in the second.

The first session of Day 4 with a semi-old ball holds the key for both sides. If Nissanka and Asalanka manage to survive the opening hour, Sri Lanka will be the favourites to win the contest from there, as they have got more quality spinners than West Indies.

West Indies will hope Jomel Warrican and Veerasammy Permaul to produce something similar to the first innings. They will rely on Roston Chase as well, who took a five-wicket haul in the first Test match.

Betway Fantasy Tips

- Back Nissanka and Mathews to score big. Asalanka, too, may get a fifty.

- From West Indies, keep faith in Warrican. He is the highest wicket-taker (nine scalps at an average of 21.78) for his country in the series.
