Jomel Warrican and Veerasammy Permaul engineered a collapse to bundle out Sri Lanka for 204. Permaul, who was a bit wayward on the opening day, found his rhythm to claim five wickets, while Warrican got four. Jermaine Blackwood and Kraigg Brathwaite then got West Indies of a steady start, as they walked away from the day on 69/1. In fact, only two overs were bowled after Praveen Jayawickrama got Jermaine Blackwood, for 46.

Spinners have accounted for all 11 wickets in this Test match. Sri Lanka did not take much time to unleash spin from both ends, but were unable to exert pressure. The damp condition has also played a part in nullifying their threat.

Lasith Embuldeniya needs to be a bit more consistent with line and length. He has bowled frugal spells, but was dealt with rather easily by both Blackwood and Brathwaite.

West Indies' batting unit is prone to collapse. They need to be a bit mindful on Day 3, when the spinners are likely to dominate. Brathwaite, unbeaten on 22, has shown resilience and restraint. The others also need to take a cue from him.
