Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya has jumped an impressive 13 slots to reach his career-best 19th spot in the latest ICC Men's Test Bowler Rankings. The rankings were released on Wednesday following Jayasuriya's remarkable performance in the first Test match against Ireland earlier this week.
Jayasuriya's 10-wicket haul against Ireland contributed to Sri Lanka's crushing innings and 280-run victory over the visitors in the first match of their two-Test series in Galle. His impressive performance has earned him a total of 869 rating points, which has helped him jump from 32nd to 19th place in the rankings.
Aside from Jayasuriya, Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, and Sadeera Samarawickrama also put in remarkable performances. Their centuries have helped them rise up in the batters' list. Karunaratne advanced one spot to ninth place with 783 points, while Chandimal and Mendis moved to 14th and 42nd place respectively.
Meanwhile, in the Men's T20I bowlers rankings, Haris Rauf's impressive 10-wicket haul in three T20Is has seen him climb to become the top-ranked Pakistan bowler at 11th place. This has earned him career-high ratings of 657 points and he could potentially enter the top 10 by the end of the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
Other notable climbers in the rankings include New Zealand skipper Tom Latham, who rose an impressive 87 spots to 66th place in the batting rankings, and Mark Chapman, who rose from 119th to 83rd place. In the bowlers' list, Ish Sodhi also rose to 16th place from 20th position.
