Following his impressive six-wicket haul in the one-off Test against Ireland, England fast bowler Stuart Broad has made significant gains in the latest Test Bowling Rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday. With figures of 5/51 and 1/62 in the match, Broad has jumped two places to reclaim his spot in the top 10, now sitting in 10th position with 744 rating points. This rise comes just in time for the upcoming Ashes series, where Broad will join his teammates James Anderson (2nd with 850 rating points) and Ollie Robinson (7th with 777 points) in the elite group.
In addition to Broad's ascent, several England batsmen have also experienced notable improvements in the rankings following their performances against Ireland. Harry Brook has moved up one spot to 18th position, Ollie Pope has climbed a remarkable 10 places to reach 23rd, and Ben Duckett has gained eight positions to secure 34th place. These substantial gains are a result of their contributions in England's resounding 10-wicket victory over Ireland at Lord's. Brook scored 56 and remained unbeaten on 12, while Pope was awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding innings of 205. Duckett's impressive knock of 182 also contributed to his rise in the rankings.
Meanwhile, another player who made an impact in the Test against Ireland is Josh Tongue. The English fast bowler has entered the rankings at an impressive 82nd position after taking a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
For Ireland, there were notable advancements as well. Andy McBrine has entered the top 100 after his gritty unbeaten knock of 86 in the second innings, while Mark Adair has climbed 32 places to secure the 105th position following his valiant 88 while batting at number nine.
