T20 Blast quarter-final 1: Yorkshire vs Sussex preview, fantasy tips, probable XIs Image

Yorkshire and Sussex will be up against each other in the first quarter-final of the Vitality T20 Blast at Riverside Ground, on Tuesday, 24 August. Yorkshire finished fourth in the North Group, while Sussex finished third in the South Group. Sussex won six games and lost three, while five of their games were washed out.

Yorkshire were heavily reliant on Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow to put up challenging totals. But both of them, along with the skipper Joe Root, will be unavailable for this fixture. David Willey will be at the helm, while Gary Ballance and Adam Lyth are likely to open batting. Tom Kohler-Cadmore may be promoted to No. 3 in Malan’s absence.

Harry Brook’s form has been a big positive for Yorkshire. Brook has been in ominous form, especially in death overs. He has smashed 485 runs at a strike rate of around 150.

On the bowling front, they have two premier spinners, in Adil Rashid and Dom Bess. Lockie Ferguson has recovered from injury he is currently under self-isolation.

Sussex will miss the services of Ollie Robinson, who is currently with the national side, and Travis Head, who has already returned home. However, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills, and George Garton will be available after winning The Hundred with Southern Brave.

David Wiese and Rashid Khan are two overseas players in a 14-man squad. Both should feature in the playing XI.

Betway Fantasy Tips

  • Without Bairstow and Malan, Yorkshire’s batting unit remains a shadow of their full-strength side. They will struggle to break free against the Sussex attack. Pick both Garton and Mills.
  • Brook, the third-highest run-getter of the competition, should walk into your fantasy XI.
  • Among Yorkshire bowlers, opt for Adil Rashid and Jordan Thomson.
