With the addition of new players and recent roster changes, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan claimed on Sunday that his team's failure to advance to the semifinals of the Men's T20 World Cup 2022 with just two victories in five super 12 games was the greatest outcome possible.

Following South Africa's collapse in front of a spirited Netherlands team to exit the T20 World Cup, Pakistan and Bangladesh were given the chance of a lifetime to advance to the last-four stage. But in their final Super 12 match, which was effectively a quarterfinal, Bangladesh lost by five wickets, allowing Pakistan to secure a spot in the semifinals.

"This was our most successful effort in terms of results at the T20 World Cups. Better work was possible. However, given the changes and the influx of new personnel, this is the best we can hope for "Shakib mentioned this during the post-game presentation.

The captain believed that if set batters had continued to the conclusion, they may have scored more runs.

"At the midway point, we had a 70/1 shot. It would have been a respectable total on that pitch to aim for 145 to 150. knew the new batters would have a difficult time, so wanted the set batters to finish the game, but that didn't happen " he explained.

As per the veteran all-rounder, he could have done better and wishes to continue playing.

"On my own performance - I could've done better. As long as I'm fit and performing, I'd love to play," said Shakib.
