Before their three-match series against Ireland, Bangladesh's ODI captain Tamim Iqbal emphasised that positions in the team were still up for grabs.
Bangladesh enters the series having defeated Ireland in a three-game ODI series at home last month with a clean sweep.
"I can assure you that there are no specific areas that have already been corrected. The top team will go (to the World Cup in India) once we play this series and the following one in different circumstances.
For the time being, Towhid Hridoy, for example, has performed admirably. It's too soon to make a judgement, but in the one series he participated in, Tamim performed remarkably well, according to the ICC.
The World Cup for this year will be staged in India in October and November, and Bangladesh, who are currently in fourth place in the ODI Super League standings, have already secured their spot there.
With three victories over Ireland, Bangladesh has a chance to surpass England and India and place as high as second overall.
However, Tamim believes that the word "favourite" shouldn't be used because anything can occur on any given day. On May 9, 12, and 14, Bangladesh will play Ireland in one-day internationals. I try not to use the word favourites frequently. We came here to play competitive cricket and win games, but nothing can be predicted in advance in cricket.
"They are a good team in these conditions and they are quite familiar with the conditions. We hope that it will be a good and competitive series," he added.
