Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh visited the recovering wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who suffered serious injuries in a car accident last year. Yuvraj shared a photo of himself with Pant on Twitter, expressing his confidence that the young cricketer will soon make a comeback.
On Wednesday, Pant shared a video on his social media accounts, showing him taking slow steps in a swimming pool with a walking stick as part of his recovery process. Pant expressed his gratitude for the progress he has made so far, with the BCCI commenting on Twitter, "More power to you champ."
The accident occurred on December 30, 2022, when Pant's car collided with a divider and caught fire on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. He suffered multiple injuries, including a ligament tear in his right knee, cuts on his forehead, and injuries to his wrist, ankle, and toe.
Pant was initially admitted to Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Centre before being transferred to Max Hospital in Dehradun. He was later moved to Mumbai via air ambulance for surgery and further treatment.
Pant shared on social media that his surgery was successful, and in February, he shared a photo of himself walking with crutches and his right leg in a bandage.
Pant, who made his international cricket debut in 2017, was last seen in action when India sealed a 2-0 Test series victory over Bangladesh in December 2022, scoring a match-winning 93 in the first innings. The BCCI has not announced when Pant is expected to return to competitive cricket.
