Virat Kohli will return from the Indian cricket team’s upcoming tour of Australia after the first Test. He will be on parental leave as informed by a BCCI press release. “At the selection committee meeting held on October 26th, 2020, Mr. Virat Kohli had informed the BCCI about his plans to return to India after the first Test in Adelaide. The BCCI has granted paternity leave to the Indian captain. He will return after the first Test against Australia in Adelaide.”

There have been some significant changes made by the Indian cricket board in Indian squads traveling to Down Under. One of them is the inclusion of Rohit Sharma in the Test squad. Sharma was being monitored by the BCCI medical team after sustaining a hamstring injury in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Followed by the same he had to miss some of Mumbai Indians matches. However, the MI skipper will be seen playing the final match against Delhi Capitals tomorrow.

“The BCCI Medical Team has been monitoring Rohit Sharma’s fitness and has briefed All-India Senior Selection Committee on the same. In consultation with Mr. Sharma, it has been decided to rest him for the ODIs and T20Is in Australia to regain full fitness and he has been included in India’s Test squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy,” the release added.

Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the series with a shoulder injury. His excellent performance for Kolkata Knight Riders had earned him a national call for the tour of Australia. Chakravarthy has been replaced by the left-arm seamer T Natarajan, who was previously part of the reserve group of net bowlers.

Wriddhiman Saha also suffered from hamstring injuries in the match against Mumbai Indians but the selection committee has not taken any call on him. Sanju Samson has been added as a back-up keeper in the ODI squad. “The senior Indian wicket-keeper sustained injuries to both his hamstrings during his side’s IPL game on 3rd November. A call on his availability will be taken later.”
