Wasim Khan has stepped down from his role as the CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He had joined the PCB in 2019 with a three-year contract, which was supposed to expire in another four months time. An emergency meeting of the board of directors has been called up by Rameez Raza in the wake of Wasim's resignation.

This is not the first high-profile resignation ever since Rameez was appointed PCB chairman. Men's team head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis also resigned from their roles.

Wasim did his MBA from Warwick Business School, and has also played County Cricket for Warwickshire, Derbyshire and Sussex. He amassed 2,835 runs in 58 First-class matches.

It is understood that the recent cancellation of the series by New Zealand and England had an adverse impact on the board's hierarchy, with many blaming Wasim Khan for being unable to convince those teams.
