Steve Smith scored his hundred 27th Test hundred, his eighth against India in just 13 Test matches. Marnus Labuschagne on the other hand missed out on a hundred as he was picked up by Ravindra Jadeja, who himself had quite the day.
Jadeja took four wickets and dismissed Steve Smith with a sensational run-out.
Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma got India off to a picturesque start but both of them were dismissed before the day’s play ended. Gill got to his first Test half-century in only his third innings.
India ended the day at 96/2, with Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane on the crease.
