Zimbabwe off-spinner Wessly Madhevere produced a match-winning performance in the second One-dayer against the Netherlands, as he took a hat-trick to help his team clinch a thrilling victory by one run.
After being bowled out for 271, Zimbabwe looked to be on the back foot as the Netherlands were cruising towards the target. However, Madhevere turned the match on its head with his incredible bowling performance in the 43rd over.
Madhevere's hat-trick saw him become only the third Zimbabwean to achieve the feat in ODI cricket. Colin Ackermann was stumped by Clive Madande on the first ball, while Teja Nidamanuru and Paul van Meekeren were bowled off the next two deliveries.
The hat-trick put the Netherlands in trouble, as they slipped from 213-3 to 213-6. They eventually fell one run short of the target, as a run-out off the final delivery sealed Zimbabwe's victory.
Earlier, Sean Williams and Clive Madande had played a crucial role in Zimbabwe's innings, with their 104-run stand proving to be the backbone of their total. For the Netherlands, Shariz Ahmad took his first five-for in ODI cricket.
Zimbabwe's victory was a memorable one, and Madhevere's hat-trick will go down as one of the greatest moments in the team's ODI history.
