Day 4 of the Barbados Test match was not much different from the days preceding it. Batters enjoyed their time in the middle, while the bowlers had to toil endlessly for rewards. In response to England's 507 in the first innings, West Indies managed to put 411, bringing the deficit to under 100 runs.

Alex Lees and Zak Crawley then survived the last hour of play as England closed the day unscathed on 40. They now lead by 136. Kemar Roach and Veerasammy Permaul did not give them anything to lash upon, but Jayden Seales went for over five an over.

Kraigg Brathwaite's vigil lasted for over ten hours before he fell to Jack Leach, who was handed new-ball duties. Brathwaite played 489 balls for his 160. Nightwatch Alzarri Joseph also frustrated England with his stout defence, playing 75 balls before holing out to Dan Lawrence off Ben Stokes.

Jason Holder became the first Test wicket of Saqib Mahmood, who had him caught by Matthew Fisher on 12. After getting Joshua Da Silva on 33, England got the last three wickets for 11 runs. Leach bowled 69.5 overs and claimed three wickets, while Stokes and Saqib took two apiece.

England 507/9 decl. (Joe Root 153; Veerasammy Permaul 3-126) and 40/0 (Zak Crawley 21*) lead West Indies 288/4 (Kraigg Brathwaite 160; Zak Crawley 3-118) by 136 runs.
