Shaheen Shah Afridi returned a career-best 6-51 to wrap West Indies up for 150 on Day 4 of the second Test match at Sabina Park Cricket Stadium. It helped Pakistan to have a lead of 152 after they declared on 302/9 in the first innings.

Pakistan then hurtled to 176/6 in 27.2 overs and set a target of 329. West Indies reached 49/1 at stumps, with a maximum of 98 overs still to be played on the final day of the contest.

West Indies resumed the day on 39/3. They lost Alzarri Joseph (4) early to Shaheen. Nkrumah Bonner (37) and Jermaine Blackwood (33) then staged a fightback, adding 60 for the fifth wicket before Mohammad Abbas (3-44) dismissed Bonner to give Pakistan the much-needed breakthrough.

Kyle Mayers nicked Abbas’ next ball to Mohammad Rizwan. West Indies kept losing wickets from there. Jason Holder tried as much as he could but did not find support from the tail as they were bowled out for exactly 150 six overs after lunch.

Coming to bat in the second innings, Pakistan started to score runs quickly from the ball one. Imran Butt (37) and Abid Ali (27) added 70 in 9.3 overs to lay the platform. Azhar Ali (22) and Babar Azam (30) carried the momentum before Hasan Ali’s blitz (17 in 11 balls) took them to 176/6 at 6.4 runs an over. Joseph (2-24) and Holder (2-27) claimed two wickets each.

In reply, Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieran Powell gave West Indies a steady start in the first 13 overs before Powell’s casual running undid their good work. Joseph then batted with Brathwaite until stumps.

West Indies now have to survive the full day of play to retain their 1-0 lead and win the series.
