An unbeaten 91 from Lizelle Lee helped South Africa take a 1-0 lead in the ongoing ODI series. They chased down 154 against West Indies with eight wickets remaining. Lee was adjudged Player of the Match.

Anisa Mohammed won the toss and opted to bat. Instead of Deandra Dottin, Kyshona Knight opened the innings, alongside Hayley Matthews. They started slowly, and added just 11 runs in six overs before Knight was bowled by Marizanne Kapp.

Matthews played 35 balls and scored 4. Britney Cooper and Dottin steadied the innings, adding 58 before the latter was dismissed by Sune Luus on 38. Cooper was forced to retire hurt on 25.

Kycia Knight top-scored with 39, but the batters following her failed to reach double digits. For South Africa, Ayabonga Khaka, Tumi Sekhukhune and Dane van Niekerk claimed two wickets each.

Lee and Laura Wolvaardt then added 88 for the opening stand. Both started cautiously before Lee started to stamp her authority on the game. Wolvaardt was on 36 when she was beaten through the gate by Anisa.

Luus, promoted to No. 3, got out for a five-ball duck. Lee stayed unbeaten and saw her team past the target in 39.3 overs.

Brief scores: West Indies 153/9 in 46.4 overs (Kycia Knight 39; Ayabonga Khata 2-17) lost to South Africa 157/2 in 39.3 overs (Lizelle Lee 91*; Qiana Joseph 1-26) by 8 wickets with 63 balls to spare.
