Melbourne Renegades v Brisbane Heat

Melbourne Renegades 207/4 in 20 overs (Kaur 65; Harris 1-29) beat Brisbane Heat 192 in 20 overs (Kimmince 42; Falconer 4-29) by 15 runs. Player of the Match: Harmanpreet Kaur.

Melbourne Renegades beat Brisbane Heat in Match 31 of the WBBL 2021 in Adelaide. They piled 207/4, and bowled out the Heat for 192.

Brisk fifties from Harmanpreet Kaur (65 in 32 balls), Jemimah Rodrigues (52 in 31) and Eve Jones (62 in 46) helped the Renegades cross 200. In reply, Laura Kimmince (42 in 21) and Georgia Voll (40) played aggressively but fell 15 short of the target, and were bowled out off the last ball of the innings. Ellie Falconer returned 4-29 and Kaur 2-25.   

Melbourne Stars v Adelaide Strikers

Melbourne Stars 126/4 in 14 overs (Lanning 82; Van Niekerk 2-15) beat Adelaide Strikers 89/8 in 14 overs (Mack 14*; McKenna 2-3) by 37 runs. Player of the Match: Meg Lanning.

Meg Lanning notched her first fifty in the WBBL 2021 to lead Melbourne Stars to a 37-run win against Adelaide Strikers in a rain-reduced 14-overs-a-side contest. Lanning smashed 82 off 45 balls, with nine fours and three sixes, to help the Stars reach 126/4 after they were asked to bat. With 2-15, Dane van Niekerk was the pick of the Strikers bowler.

The Strikers were never really in the chase, and crawled to 89/8. Tess Flintoff, Linsey Smith and Rhys McKenna took three wickets each.

Hobart Hurricanes v Perth Scorchers

Hobart Hurricanes 137/8 in 20 overs (Priest 54; King 2-20) beat Perth Scorchers 135/8 in 20 overs (Athapaththu 33; Carey 2-17) by 2 runs. Player of the Match: Rachel Priest.

Nicola Carey defended seven runs in the final over to help Hobart Hurricanes beat Perth Scorchers by two runs. Opting to bat, the Hurricanes posted 137/8, despite Rachel Priest scoring a fifty with a broken finger. Among the Scorchers bowlers, Alana King (2-20) impressed the most.

The Scorchers closed on 135/8 in reply. Sophie Devine (25 in 15) provided a brisk start, but they struggled to get going once she fell to Molly Strano (2-30) in the fourth over. Chamari Athapaththu (34) and Heather Graham (24) kept them in the hunt, but failed to take them past the finishing line.
