Birmingham Phoenix vs Welsh Fire, Edgbaston

Welsh Fire 127/9 in 100 balls (Smith 39; Gordon 2-10) lost to Birmingham Phoenix 132/0 in 76 balls (Verma 76*, Jone 52*) by 10 wickets with 24 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Shafali Verma.

An unbeaten 131-run partnership between Shafali Verma and Evelyn Jones guided Birmingham Phoenix to their second victory of their campaign. Verma and Jones never gave any chance and smashed boundaries on will.

Verma made 76 in 42 balls, while Evelyn's 52 came from 35. They hit as many as 20 boundaries between them to take the sting out of the contest.

Earlier, Welsh Fire failed to carry on the momentum after openers Hayley Matthews and Bryony Smith added 36. Smith was undone by Abtaha Maqsood, while Georgia Redmayne and Sarah Taylor failed to convert their starts.

Alice Macleod remained unbeaten on 19, but did not get support from the lower order. Kirstie Gordon struck twice, and effected a run out to wrap up Welsh Fire for 127.
