Thailand defeated Pakistan by four wickets in the ACC Women's T20 Asia Cup on Thursday at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS), thanks in large part to Natthakan Chantham's 51-ball 61. Pakistan has just suffered their first loss of the competition.
Thailand Women won their opening game in the seven-team competition being played in Bangladesh thanks to Natthakan Chantham, who scored five fours and two sixes during her innings.
Thailand batsmen were held in check as Pakistan bowlers successfully chased a modest 117-run goal. However, Thailand chased down the target on the penultimate ball of the game thanks to Nattakan Chantham, who was in excellent form.
When Nida Dar's 19th over went for only six runs and she claimed the desired scalp of Chantham, the team needed 16 runs from two overs.
Rosenan Kanoh hit Diana for a four on the first delivery to assist her side reach the mark with four wickets in hand with 10 runs needed in the last over.
Nida, Tuba Hasan, and Nashra Sandhu each claimed two wickets, while Kainat Imtiaz and Nashra Sandhu each claimed one.
Sidra Amin earlier, after choosing to bat first, maintained her excellent tournament form, leading the way with a 64-ball 56 that included six boundaries. On a sluggish, low track, Pakistan scored 116 for five in their 20 overs.
It was Pakistan's first defeat in the competition. Pakistan has won its last two games against Malaysia and the defending champions Bangladesh in three tournament appearances.
The team's next opponent will be India on Friday at the SICS.
