Scotland became the first team to qualify for the 2022 ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifier. They needed to beat France, tournament debutants and the weakest of the five teams, to top the group, win the tournament, and qualify. They took just 14 balls to complete their chase.

Ireland beat Netherlands to secure the second spot. Germany finished fourth, just ahead of France.

Netherlands vs Ireland

Ireland 111/9 in 20 overs (Eimear Richardson 53; Eva Lynch 4-24) beat Netherlands 87/9 in 20 overs (Robin Rijke 32; Cara Murray 3-9) by 24 runs.

Laura Delany and Cara Murray picked three wickets apiece to restrict the Netherlands 24 short at La Manga Club Top Ground in Murcia. Chasing 112, Netherlands could only manage 87/9.

When Robin Rijke and Babette de Leede added 40 for the second wicket, it seemed they would chase down the target. But Laura Delany bowled de Leede to trigger a collapse.

In the space of just three overs, they stumbled from 50/1 to 59/7. The last seven batters could only add 30 runs in total.

Earlier, Ireland rode on Eimear Richardson’s 53 and Gaby Lewis’ 32 to reach the three-figure mark. The other eight batters combined 18 runs in total.

Scotland vs France

France 24 in 17.4 overs (Jennifer Kings 8; Megan McColl 5-3) lost to Scotland 25/3 in 2.2 overs (Sarah Bruce 9; Marie Violleau 2-11) by 7 wickets with 106 balls to spare.

Megan McColl claimed 5-3 to wrap up France for just 24, and Scotland chased down the target in just 2.2 overs with seven wickets to spare.

None of the French batters could touch the double-figure mark, and Jennifer King’s 8 was the highest score of the innings. Four batters got out for a duck, and four of them added 1.
