WTC Final: India include both Ashwin and Jadeja in playing XI Image

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the playing XI for World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand, which gets underway on 18 June at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton.

R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will comprise the Indian spin department, while Ishant Sharma has been preferred over Mohammed Siraj to join Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in the seam attack.

Rishabh Pant will bat at No. 6 and don the wicketkeeping gloves. Rohit Sharma will open with Shubman Gill, followed by Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane.

From India’s initial 15-member squad, Umesh Yadav, Wriddhiman Saha, Hanuma Vihari, and Siraj have missed out on the final lineup.

The winners of the WTC final will receive USD 1.6 million, which is approximately INR 12 crores. The losing team will get USD 800,000.
