Rest of India (ROI) successfully retained the Irani Cup trophy on Sunday with a massive 238-run victory over Madhya Pradesh at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran played outstanding innings with the bat and ROI's quality bowling display sealed the win for them.
Chasing the huge target of 437, Madhya Pradesh started the day on 81/2, with skipper Himanshu Mantri on 51. However, he was caught behind on the third ball of the day by Navdeep Saini, who Mantri expressed disappointment with regarding the decision.
After Mantri's dismissal, MP lost wickets at regular intervals, with Mukesh Kumar, Atit Sheth, Pulkit Narang and Saurabh Kumar taking two or three wickets each. Aman Solanki and Harsh Gawli offered resistance with a 49-run partnership but Gawli was trapped lbw by Narang, leading to a collapse of MP's last four wickets for just ten runs. The team was eventually bowled out for 198.
Earlier, Yashasvi was named Player of the Match for his exceptional performances, scoring 213 and 144 across his two innings. Easwaran's 154, along with Yashasvi's triple hundred plus stand, helped ROI post a massive first-innings score of 484.
