Rajasthan Royals' leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has set a new record in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) by becoming the highest wicket-taker, surpassing Dwayne Bravo's tally of 183 wickets. Chahal achieved the feat during Rajasthan's match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens by dismissing KKR skipper Nitish Rana in his very first over of the game. Chahal now has 184 wickets in 143 matches, making him the top wicket-taker in the IPL.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals' opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made history of his own by smashing the fastest half-century in IPL history in just 13 balls. Jaiswal scored 50 runs off just 13 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes, to reach the milestone. The left-hander surpassed the previous record of the fastest half-century in IPL, which was held by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins, who had scored their respective half-centuries in 14 balls.

Jaiswal's scintillating performance helped Rajasthan Royals achieve an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. With this win, Rajasthan moved up to the third position in the points table with 12 points from 12 matches. This was Jaiswal's second record-breaking feat in the IPL, having earlier become the joint-second fastest Indian to reach 1000 IPL runs. Jaiswal achieved the feat in just 34 innings and has also become the second player after Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis to amass 500+ runs in IPL 2023.
