Matthew Wade’s 46-ball 93 helped Hobart Hurricanes beat Sydney Sixers by 44 runs in Match 8 of the Big Bash League 2021/22 at the SCG. D'Arcy Short slammed 72 as well, as the Hurricanes piled 213/2 after opting to bat. Tom Curran and Chris Jordan took a wicket apiece, but both went for more than 12 an over.

The revised target for the Sixers was 196 in 18 overs after rain’s interruption. They closed on 151/4, with Josh Philippe top-scoring with 46-ball 72. Joel Paris was the pick of the Hurricanes bowler, with 3-35.

Perth Scorchers v Adelaide Strikers

Perth Scorchers 195/1 in 20 overs (Munro 114*) beat Adelaide Strikers 146 in 17.5 overs (Short 63; Tye 3-21) by 49 runs. Player of the Match: Colin Munro.

Colin Munro’s unbeaten 114, including six sixes and eight fours, helped Perth Scorchers beat Adelaide Strikers by 49 runs in Match 9. The Scorchers rode on Munro’s 73-ball knock to pile 195/1 after opting to bat. Cameron Bancroft made 37-ball 45 and Ashton Turner 10-ball 14 not out.

The Strikers were then bowled out for 146 in 17.5 overs. Matthew Short scored a 47-ball 64, but received little support. Andrew Tye and Jason Behrendorff took three wickets apiece.
