Melbourne Stars beat Brisbane Heat by eight wickets in Match 50 of the Big Bash League 2021/22. They restricted the Heat to 149/6 after the latter opted to bat and chased the target with 37 balls to spare.
Glenn Maxwell was adjudged Player of the Match for his 2-19 and 30-ball 37. Ben Duckett top-scored for the Heat, with 51 in 42 balls. Chris Lynn made 28 in 22 balls and Nathan McSweeney a run-a-ball 20, while Jimmy Peirson remained unbeaten on a 10-ball 15. For the Stars, Adam Zampa returned 2-20.
Maxwell and Joe Clarke (62 in 36 balls) then got the Stars off to a rousing start. They added 104 in 64 balls before Mark Steketee got Maxwell in the 11th over. Clarke departed in the next over, but Marcus Stoinis (29* in 10) and Hilton Cartwright (16* in 7) did not take much time to finish things off.
Despite the result, the Stars remained at sixth place in the points table, with 22 points from 13 matches. The Heat, on the other hand, are at seventh, with 15 points from 12 games.
