Perth Scorchers beat Melbourne Stars by 50 runs in Match 31 of the Big Bash League 2021/22 at the Junction Oval in Melbourne. Kurtis Patterson (54) and Colin Munro (40 in 20 balls) starred in Scorchers’ 180/8 after they opted to bat. Qais Ahmad returned 2-26 and Haris Rauf 2-40.

Joe Clarke (52) and Thomas Rogers (32) then got the Stars off to a rousing start, adding 78 in 51 balls before Clarke fell to Andrew Tye (2-11), in the ninth over. They kept losing wickets in regular intervals from there, and ended up being bowled out for 130 in 18.5 overs. Peter Hatzoglou was adjudged Player of the Match for his 2-27.

Sydney Thunder v Adelaide Strikers

Sydney Thunder 172/7 in 20 overs (Gilkes 93; Agar 3-26) beat Adelaide Strikers 144 in 19.1 overs (Nielsen 31; Hasnain 3-20) by 28 runs. Player of the Match: Matthew Gilkes.

Mohammad Hasnain returned figures of 4-1-20-3 on BBL debut to help Sydney Thunder beat Adelaide Strikers by 28 runs in Match 32 of the ongoing season. After Thunder set 173, Hasnain started with a triple-wicket maiden over, that too inside the Powerplay. The Strikers never really recovered, and were bowled out for 144 in 19.1 overs. Harry Nielsen (31) and Matt Renshaw (30) were the only Strikers batters who scored more than 20.

Earlier, Matthew Gilkes' 57-ball 93 powered the Thunder to 172/7 after they opted to bat. For the Strikers, Wes Agar returned 3-26 and Peter Siddle 3-36.
