The 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will get underway on 26 August after a discussion with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and will run until 15 September. All matches will be held in St Kitts & Nevis as per the original schedule.

The IPL was postponed in May due to the sudden rise of Covid-19 cases in the camps. Later, the BCCI decided to conduct the remaining 31 matches in the UAE, during the September-October window just before T20 World Cup.

But the CPL was scheduled to commence on 28 August. Because of that, the BCCI had requested CPL organisers to make changes to their schedule to avoid conflicts for players and coaching staff involved in both IPL and CPL.

Guyana Amazon Warriors will take on defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders in the tournament opener, while both semi-finals will take place on 14 September. The final will be held the day after. The IPL is likely to resume within three or four days after CPL.
