Buttler set to miss fifth Test

Jos Buttler will miss the fifth Ashes Test after fracturing his left index finger on Day 2 of the fourth Test match. Ollie Pope came in as a substitute wicketkeeper in the second innings. Despite his injury, Buttler, batted in both innings. England have included Sam Billings in the squad.

'Buttler is going home after this game, it's quite a bad injury. Real disappointment and shame to not have him at Hobart. The way he stood up for the team shows his character,' said Joe Root in the post-match presentation.

England avoid a whitewash

England avoided a potential whitewash after salvaging a draw on Day 5 of the fourth Test at Sydney Cricket Ground. Zak Crawley and Ben Stokes set up the foundation with their fifties before the tailenders ensured a draw.

Zak Crawley scored 77, while Ben Stokes played 123 balls for his 60. For Australia, Scott Boland claimed three wickets, while Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon took two each. Usman Khawaja was adjudged Player of the Match for his two hundreds.

New Zealand finished Day 1 on 349/1

After losing the second Test of the two match series, New Zealand took an early advantage in the second Test after finishing Day 1 on 349/1.

Tom Latham and Will Young added 148 for the opening stand before Young fell for 54. Latham (186*) then forged an unbroken 201-run stand with Devon Conway, who needs one run to complete his century.

West Indies beat Ireland by 24 runs

West Indies beat Ireland by 24 runs in the first ODI. They rode on half-centuries from the debutant Shamarh Brooks and Kieron Pollard to post 269 in 48.5 overs. Brooks missed out on his century by seven runs.

Ireland got off to a decent start, thanks to a 164-run stand between Andy Balbirnie and Andy McBrine, but their innings fell apart after Balbirnie's dismissal on 71.
