Lahore Qalandars 199/4 in 20 overs (Fakhar 66; Irshad 2-47) beat Peshawar Zalmi 170/9 in 20 overs (Haider 49; Zaman 3-32) by 29 runs. Player of the Match: Zaman Khan.

Fakhar Zaman’s 38-ball 66, Mohammad Hafeez’s unbeaten 19-ball 37 and Rashid Khan’s unbeaten eight-ball 22 helped Lahore Qalandars beat Peshawar Zalmi by 29 runs in Match 9 of the Pakistan Super League 2022, in Karachi. The Qalandars posted 199/4 after Wahab Riaz asked them to bat and restricted the Zalmi to 170/9.

Fakhar and Abdullah Shafique (41 in 31 balls) added 94 in 60 balls to set the tone for the Qalandars. Kamran Ghulam then carried the momentum, scoring 23-ball 30 before Rashid and Hafeez took their side to a run short of 200. For Zalmi, Salman Irshad returned 2-47, while Usman Qadir and Hussain Talat had a wicket each.

Coming to defend, Shaheen Shah Afridi  (2-19) bowled Hazratullah Zazai in the opening over to send the Zalmi on the back foot. Kamran Akmal (41 in 24) and Haider Ali (49 in 34) tried, but received little support, and they fell well short of the target.

With 3-32, Zaman Khan was adjudged Player of the Match. David Wiese returned 2-11 and Rashid 1-38, while Shaheen was the only bowler who went for less than five an over.
