Babar Azam was run out on 7 in the third over, while Fakhar Zaman got 10 before being stumped off Akeal Hosein. But Mohammad Rizwan (38) kept the scoreboard ticking with timely boundaries. Haider Ali took 34 balls for his 31, but Iftikhar Ahmed scored a quick 32 before Shadab Khan's 12-ball 28 propelled the hosts to a competitive total.
West Indies then lost Shai Hope (1) and Shamarh Brooks (10) inside four overs before Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran steadied things with a 54-run stand. Pooran scored run-a-ball 26, while King made 67 in 43 balls. An unbeaten 19-ball 35 from Romario Shepherd kept West Indies in the game.
With 23 needed off the last over, Shepherd struck a four and a six to bring down the equation to 11 in two balls, but Haris Rauf conceded just a single to seal a nine-run win.
