Quinton de Kock retired from Test cricket to spend more time with his family. However, he will continue to play for South Africa in limited-overs cricket.

De Kock and his wife Sasha are expecting their first child soon. ‘This is not a decision that I have come to very easily,’ de Kock said shortly after South Africa's 113-run defeat by India in the first Test match in Centurion. ‘My family is everything to me and I want to have the time and space to be able to be with them during this new and exciting chapter of our lives.’

De Kock made his Test debut in 2014. He aggregated 3,300 runs in 54 matches at an average of 38.82, with six hundreds and 22 fifties. Only Dean Elgar has more (1,125) Test runs than de Kock among the current South Africa players.

‘I love Test cricket and I love representing my country and all that it comes with,’ De Kock added. ‘I'm fully committed to white-ball cricket and representing my country to the best of my ability for the foreseeable future. See you in the ODIs and T20s.’
