According to reports, the BCCI has now turned it’s attention towards hosting IPL 2021 in six cities – moving away from it’s original plan of hosting in Mumbai and Pune. The decision to do so has come in lieu of the rising cases of COVID-19 in Maharasthra.

As reported by The Times of India, it is understood that Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Delhi are the venues shortlisted as of now. It is said that Hyderabad was omitted from the list due to concerns of the cricket association there with Delhi being included last minute. https://cricketnews.com/features/ipl-2021-players-auction-how-mumbai-indians-and-chennai-super-kings-performed/

It also seems more than likely that the matches being played in Mumbai will have no spectators at all, while stadiums at the other venues could have about 50% capacity seating occupied.https://cricketnews.com/news/ca-imposes-limitations-on-use-of-australian-players-for-ipl-advertising/

The 2021 edition of the cash-rich league is tentative set to begin from April 11th and go up till early June.
