Shubham Arora’s unbeaten 136 – his maiden List A hundred – helped Himachal Pradesh win their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy as they beat Tamil Nadu by 11 runs in the final of the 2021/22 edition via the VJD method in Jaipur. Chasing 315, Himachal Pradesh rode on Arora’s 131-ball stay to reach 299/4 before bad light ensured no further play possible.

Arora added 148 with Amit Kumar (74) after Himachal Pradesh were reduced to 96/3 in 16.1 overs. Rishi Dhawan then slammed an unbeaten 23-ball 42 to reduce the equation to 16 from 15 balls when play stopped for good.

Earlier, Dinesh Karthik’s 103-ball 116, which included seven sixes and eight fours, helped Tamil Nadu recover from 40/4 to 314. Baba Indrajith (80 in 71 balls) and Shahrukh Khan (42 in 21) starred with bat as well. For Himachal Pradesh, Pankaj Jaswal returned 4-59 and Dhawan 3-62.
